Boswell Tunes Spec 125 Driver Wimsett to a Pair of Top Fives
Joey Wimsett managed to squeeze out a top five finish for both days in Star of Karting race held in Beaumont, California during the weekend of September 15-16. Due to the fact that Wimsett had never raced the track before, Wimsett and tuner Wesley Boswell were forced to spend a great deal of time getting Joey up to speed. After initial testing and the loss of a strong motor, Wimsett’s Intrepid showed mixed results, leaving Wimsett with a qualifying run that left him in the middle of the pack. Through diligent efforts of both driver and tuner, Wimsett ran up to 9th in the pre-final and polished off Saturday’s final with a solid fourth place finish.
Continuing the forward momentum, on Sunday Wimsett cut his qualifying position in half pushing to a solid ninth place start. With a few solid tweaks to the kart performed flawlessly by veteran Boswell, Wimsett was able to explode into second in the pre-final. In the final, Wimsett got the hole shot and actually carried the lead for the first five laps before slipping into second, making this the best finish for Wimsett in the Stars series.
